Last month, Circle has rolled out native USDC token on Polygon network, and, while the bridged USDC still has higher volumes, several exchanges and wallets are now using the native token as the main USDC over Polygon.

For this reason the team has decided to rename the legacy, bridged, USDC token to USDC.e, and add the new, native, USDC token as USDC. This means that to keep accepting payments in the bridged USDC, the new ticker will be polygon/usdc.e, while polygon/usdc will be used for the native USDC.

This follows the naming convention set by other services, such as PolygonScan (USDC (native), USDC.e (bridged)).

Previously generated USDC addresses will be ported to USDC.e.
