Human Support and Onboarding: What to Ask a Crypto Payment Provider

Guides

What to ask a crypto payment provider about support and onboarding before you sign, and how BlockBee answers each question.

What support should a crypto payment provider offer?

A crypto payment provider should tell you in writing how to reach it, when each channel is open, and where developers get help. Before you sign, check the support channels and their hours, the developer docs and SDKs, the path to a first live payment, and what happens when a payment goes wrong. BlockBee's contacts page, checked on 26 October 2026, lists live chat from 09:00 to 22:00 UTC, an official Telegram channel and email support.

Support matters most when a payment is stuck, so ask these questions before you need the answers.

Which support channels are there, and when are they open?

BlockBee's contacts page, checked on 26 October 2026, says: "You can reach us via live chat from 09:00 to 22:00 UTC, through our official Telegram channel, or by emailing us at [email protected]." The page also lists:

  • Contact form on the same page.
  • Discord: a community where, the page says, you can get support, share suggestions and talk with other BlockBee users.
  • Sales: [email protected] for sales inquiries such as a proposal or a discount negotiation, and a link to book a sales call.

The page gives live chat's hours but not its days, and no hours for the other channels. Convert 09:00–22:00 UTC to your time zone, and ask any provider which days live chat is open, whether a person answers, how fast tickets are answered and how to escalate an urgent problem. Get the answers in writing.

How much help do developers get?

BlockBee's documentation opens with a quickstart that aims to get you "from zero to a working crypto payment in about 10 minutes". Around it, the docs offer:

  • SDKs: official libraries for NodeJS, Python, Django, PHP and Ruby, each linked to its GitHub repository. They create payment addresses, fetch payment logs, estimate blockchain fees and manage payouts (payouts need API Key V2).
  • Plugins: WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Magento, Odoo and WHMCS. For other platforms, the docs ask you to contact [email protected] about a custom integration.
  • Webhooks: a guide to the endpoint rules, signature checks and retry schedule, plus a logs endpoint for checking payments.
  • AI assistants: an MCP server at mcp.blockbee.io gives assistants such as Cursor read-only access to the docs, with no API key.

If you get stuck, the quickstart points you to Discord or to support. Start with the quickstart.

What does onboarding look like?

BlockBee's quickstart reaches a first live payment in four steps:

  1. Get an API key. Create a free account, add a receiving address on the Addresses page (BlockBee forwards confirmed payments to it), and generate a key on the API Keys page. A V1 key is enough to start; V2 adds the Self-Custodial Wallet and payouts.
  2. Create a payment address with one API call that includes your callback URL.
  3. Set up a webhook receiver. For a first test, the quickstart uses webhook.site, a free tool that shows incoming requests.
  4. Send a test payment from any wallet; the quickstart suggests about $1 in Litecoin.

BlockBee has no sandbox or test mode, so this first payment is real. Keep it above the coin's minimum (0.002 LTC for Litecoin on 26 October 2026): payments below it are ignored and the funds are lost. Our guide to gateway reliability and uptime shows what else to test.

Store owners can skip the code: install a plugin, enter the API key and place a small real order. The e-commerce guide suggests about $2 in Litecoin and says the support team is available to help with issues during setup. Before going live, the quickstart says to verify webhook signatures. If you upgrade to API Key V2 for payouts, store the Recovery Key safely: losing both the API Key V2 and the Recovery Key makes the Self-Custodial Wallet's funds permanently inaccessible.

What happens when a payment goes wrong?

Most problems have a documented first step:

  • Webhook not received. BlockBee retries failed webhooks until the transaction is 3 days old; the reliability guide above gives the full schedule. The docs say to check that your endpoint is public, that your firewall or CDN doesn't block BlockBee's IPs, and that the customer sent the coin and chain the address was made for. Our webhooks guide covers retries and logging.
  • Status of one payment. The logs endpoint shows a payment address's logs and webhook history.
  • Wrong coin sent. The docs list a wrong coin or network as a reason funds look stuck, and say to contact support if the wrong cryptocurrency was sent. BlockBee's Terms say it is not liable for errors such as sending to the wrong address or a wrong or delisted chain, so don't promise customers a recovery.
  • Transaction not confirmed. The docs name network congestion or a transaction stuck in the mempool, and say confirmation can take 1 to 24 hours, depending on the network.
  • A possible outage. Check status.blockbee.io; the reliability guide explains what it shows.
