BlockBee vs CoinPayments: Fees, Settlement and Coins Compared

Guides

BlockBee vs CoinPayments: fees, how you get paid, coins, payouts, plugins and testing, compared from each company's own pages.

What is the difference between BlockBee and CoinPayments?

The main difference is how you get paid. CoinPayments' FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026, says that when you receive payments into your CoinPayments account, "the platform itself is the custodian"; you can then keep the crypto, convert it to a stablecoin or settle in fiat. BlockBee receives each on-chain payment and forwards it to your address once it confirms, and pays out in crypto, not fiat. Both list a 1% payment fee; BlockBee publishes volume tiers down to 0.25%.

Disclosure: BlockBee publishes this comparison of CoinPayments' NEW platform, for new accounts (Legacy is for accounts opened before 2025), based on CoinPayments' website and docs as checked on 26 October 2026. Terms may have changed since.

How do BlockBee and CoinPayments compare at a glance?

CoinPayments NEW (checked on 26 October 2026) BlockBee

How much does CoinPayments charge compared with BlockBee?

CoinPayments' Coins & Fees page, checked on 26 October 2026, shows a 1% payment fee for every coin it lists: nine on its default Popular tab, including BTC, USDT, USDC and ETH, and 21 on its All Crypto tab. The page lists a payment fee for each coin but not a conversion fee or a bank withdrawal fee. Its FAQ, checked the same day, says stablecoin-settled transactions carry no currency conversion costs and network fees apply only to transfers to external wallets.

BlockBee's fees start at 1%, with volume discounts down to 0.25%, plus network fees; the rate depends on your 30-day deposits and payouts and your industry's risk tier, with no setup or monthly fees. See the fee calculator.

Worked example: 250 orders of $80 a month ($20,000) in USDT on BEP20, which both list, at published rates.

  • CoinPayments NEW, 1%: 250 × $0.80 = $200, plus network fees on withdrawals to an external wallet.
  • BlockBee: the rate is set "on the volumes generated over the previous 30 days", and $20,000 falls in the 0.9% tier ($10,000–$24,999): 250 × $0.72 = $180 a month; in the first month, payments made while 30-day volume is below $10,000 are charged 1%. BlockBee's API estimate to forward each payment to one address on BNB Smart Chain was about $0.014 on 26 October 2026 ($3.60 for 250); without prepaid fees, BlockBee's own fee goes out in a second transaction, so the network cost can be higher.

Is CoinPayments custodial, and how do you get paid?

Yes. CoinPayments' FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026, says funds "are held in secure custody and segregated from corporate operating capital" and are not invested, staked or lent. You can convert to fiat or a stablecoin, or hold the asset; payouts can run hourly, nightly, weekly or at a target amount. Its pages differ on automatic conversion: the FAQ says conversion "is controlled by you, not automated at the point of transaction", but its integration-options page, checked the same day, says invoice payments can be set to route to external addresses or convert automatically on the way in. Confirm which applies to your integration. The FAQ also points to DepiPay, its non-custodial product, which this comparison does not cover.

BlockBee receives each on-chain payment and forwards it, minus its fee and the network fee, to your address once it confirms (with an API Key V1, the wallet set in your dashboard). Lightning, in Checkout and the PoS only, settles once a day at 00:00 UTC; prepaid fee credits stay in your BlockBee profile.

Which coins and networks does each support?

CoinPayments' Coins & Fees page lists USDT on ERC20, SOL, BEP20, TRC20, POL and ARB but not TON, checked on 26 October 2026. It lists USDC on ERC20, SOL, BEP20, POL, BASE and ARB, and says 40+ cryptocurrencies; its FAQ adds wallets for 2,000+ digital assets.

BlockBee lists 100+ cryptocurrencies and tokens. On 26 October 2026, its API listed USDT on 10 networks, including Tron, Solana and TON, and USDC on 10, including Optimism, Linea and Monad.

How do payouts compare?

CoinPayments' FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026, lists four withdrawal destinations, each needing two-factor authentication: another CoinPayments wallet (no network fees), an external wallet (standard network fees), your bank account if approved for bank payouts, or a third-party payment by account transfer.

BlockBee sends payouts from a Self-Custodial Wallet, which needs an API Key V2 and is secured with TSS, so BlockBee cannot move funds without your API key. A payout can bundle up to 100 requests, or 50 on Solana. The payout fee starts at 0.5% and falls with volume, plus the network fee.

Which integrations and plugins does each offer?

CoinPayments' business tools page, checked on 26 October 2026, lists APIs, an invoice builder, payment buttons and shopping cart plugins, and its FAQ describes a white-label checkout and a 60-minute invoice price lock. For NEW, its docs menu lists an All Plugins page and pages for WooCommerce and WHMCS; a separate Legacy page lists 31 plugins.

BlockBee offers an API, a hosted Checkout page, payment links, a web-based PoS and official plugins for WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop and Odoo.

Can you test before going live?

CoinPayments' integration guide, checked on 26 October 2026, covers testing "with the sandbox environment and test currencies". BlockBee has no sandbox or test mode: its quickstart uses a real payment of about $1 in Litecoin, and payments below a coin's minimum are ignored and the funds are lost.

Should you choose CoinPayments or BlockBee?

Based on CoinPayments' FAQ, docs and Coins & Fees page, checked on 26 October 2026:

Choose CoinPayments if:

  • you want the provider to hold your balance, or, if approved for bank payouts, to settle in fiat to a bank account;
  • you want a sandbox with test currencies;
  • you want invoices with a 60-minute price lock.

Choose BlockBee if:

  • you want every on-chain payment forwarded to your own address by default, as it confirms (CoinPayments' docs, checked on 26 October 2026, say invoice payments can also be set to route to external addresses);
  • your customers pay USDT on TON: CoinPayments' Coins & Fees page lists USDT on ERC20, SOL, BEP20, TRC20, POL and ARB but not TON, checked on 26 October 2026;
  • you want published volume tiers down to 0.25%;
  • you want payouts from a TSS-secured wallet that BlockBee cannot move funds from without your API key.

Frequently asked questions

Is BlockBee a good alternative to CoinPayments?

It can be, if you want on-chain payments forwarded to your own address as they confirm, published fee tiers, USDT on TON or payouts from a TSS-secured wallet. CoinPayments' NEW platform fits better if you want it to hold your balance, settle in fiat (bank payouts if approved) or offer a sandbox (its FAQ and docs, checked on 26 October 2026).

Is BlockBee cheaper than CoinPayments?

Not at the starting rate: both list 1%. BlockBee publishes tiers that fall with 30-day volume; CoinPayments' FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026, refers you to your account manager for a schedule based on your volumes. Network fees differ too: each BlockBee forward carries one (plus a second transaction for BlockBee's fee without prepaid fees), while CoinPayments' apply to withdrawals to external wallets.

Do CoinPayments Legacy accounts move to the new platform?

Not automatically. CoinPayments' FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026, calls the new platform a completely independent system, so Legacy users must sign up again as new users; Legacy funds can be managed there until you move.

Can BlockBee settle in dollars or euros?

No. BlockBee pays out in crypto, not fiat. A merchant who needs fiat can use an exchange deposit address as the receiving address and sell there.
