BlockBee vs CoinGate: Fees, Settlement and Coins Compared

Guides

How CoinGate and BlockBee compare on fees, settlement, stablecoins and payouts, with a worked fee example and a guide to choosing.

What is the difference between CoinGate and BlockBee?

BlockBee and CoinGate both charge 1% per payment at their starting rates. The difference is where the money goes. CoinGate's accept-payments page, checked on 7 October 2026, says crypto settlements land in your CoinGate balance; its pricing page lists weekly automatic settlements on Standard, in euros, pounds, dollars or crypto, and custom Enterprise rates. BlockBee forwards each on-chain payment to your own wallet once it confirms, pays out in crypto only, and publishes volume tiers down to 0.25%.

Disclosure: BlockBee wrote this comparison and checked CoinGate's public pages on 7 October 2026; terms may have changed since.

How do CoinGate and BlockBee compare at a glance?

CoinGate (pricing, accept-payments and supported-currencies pages; checked on 7 October 2026) BlockBee
Payment fee 1% on Standard; custom on Enterprise 1%, falling to 0.25% with 30-day volume, plus network fees
Where payments land Your CoinGate balance (crypto settlements) Your own wallet, one on-chain payment at a time
What you receive EUR, GBP, USD or crypto, settled weekly on Standard Crypto only
USDT Discontinued; the supported-currencies page lists USDC and EURC but not USDT 10 networks
Bitcoin Lightning Enabled by default Checkout and Point of Sale (PoS) only, settled daily
Crypto payouts 0.50 EUR + 0.5% on Standard; custom on Enterprise 0.5%, falling with volume, plus network fees

How much does CoinGate charge compared with BlockBee?

CoinGate's pricing page, checked on 7 October 2026, lists these Standard plan fees:

  • payments: 1%, with no monthly fees;
  • crypto payouts: 0.50 EUR + 0.5% (0.50 EUR + 1.5% with conversion);
  • currency exchange: 1% on manual conversions (automatic checkout conversions are excluded);
  • refunds: 0.25 EUR + 0.1% (the 0.1% only when the refund is in a different currency);
  • withdrawals: free in crypto and by SEPA (50 EUR minimum amount); 0.50% by SWIFT (50 EUR minimum fee).

BlockBee charges 1% per payment, with no setup or monthly fees. The rate falls with your volume over the previous 30 days, down to 0.25%, and also depends on your industry's risk tier. On the Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash networks a minimum of 546 satoshis applies because of the dust threshold (5,460 litoshis on Litecoin); every other coin in BlockBee's API has a minimum fee of 0. The fees page has a calculator and a network fee estimator.

Worked example. Take a store with 400 orders of $50 a month ($20,000), paid in USDC on Polygon, which CoinGate's supported-currencies page (checked the same day) lists and on which BlockBee's minimum fee is 0. At each published starting rate:

  • CoinGate Standard at 1%: 400 × $0.50 = $200
  • BlockBee at 1%: 400 × $0.50 = $200, plus network fees (not estimated here)

Once your previous 30 days pass $10,000, BlockBee's rate drops to 0.9%, but each of the 400 forwards also pays a network fee to the blockchain.

When and how does CoinGate pay you?

CoinGate's accept-payments FAQ, checked on 7 October 2026, says fiat settlements go to your bank account; its pricing page, checked the same day, lists automatic settlements weekly on Standard, and weekly or on request on Enterprise.

BlockBee pays out in crypto only, and there is nothing to withdraw from BlockBee: each on-chain payment goes to the address you set once it confirms. By default the network fee and BlockBee's fee are deducted from the payment; with prepaid fees, BlockBee's fee comes from your credits instead, and for tokens such as USDC the network fee does too. One payment can be split across up to 20 addresses.

Is CoinGate non-custodial?

CoinGate's accept-payments FAQ, checked on 7 October 2026, says crypto settlements "appear in your CoinGate balance". Its crypto-payouts page, checked the same day, starts the payout flow with "Top up your CoinGate account balance", and its pricing page, also checked that day, says refunds are issued "directly from your CoinGate account balance". So CoinGate holds your funds in that account balance until you withdraw them.

BlockBee forwards each on-chain payment to your wallet once it confirms; Bitcoin Lightning payments are settled once a day at 00:00 UTC. Its payout wallet, the Self-Custodial Wallet, uses TSS (a threshold signature scheme): you hold two of three key shares and BlockBee one, so BlockBee cannot move the funds without your API key.

Does CoinGate support USDT?

No. CoinGate's accept-payments FAQ, checked on 7 October 2026, says it "transitioned to USDC as its supported stablecoin and discontinued USDT". Its supported currencies page, checked the same day, lists these coins as accepted by merchants: Bitcoin (including Lightning), Litecoin, Ethereum, XRP, Tron, Dogecoin, Binance Coin, Polygon, USDC, Solana and EURC. The page lists USDC and EURC but not USDT. Its accept-payments page also says USDC "is available on seven networks".

BlockBee's cryptocurrencies page lists 105 assets on 13 networks. USDT is accepted on 10 networks, including Tron, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Solana and TON, and USDC on 10.

How do CoinGate and BlockBee handle payouts and refunds?

CoinGate's crypto-payouts page, checked on 7 October 2026, offers payouts from the dashboard, by CSV upload or through its API, and says you can monitor the full payout lifecycle via webhooks. Its accept-payments page, checked the same day, says you can start refunds from your dashboard or via API.

BlockBee sends payouts from your Self-Custodial Wallet. One payout bundles up to 100 payout requests for the same coin, and a payout webhook tells your system when it confirms or fails. Payout fees start at 0.5% and fall with volume, plus the network fee. Payouts run on networks including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Tron. You can use them for refunds.

Which plugins and APIs do CoinGate and BlockBee offer, and can you test first?

CoinGate's accept-payments page, checked on 7 October 2026, offers a hosted checkout, an API and plugins for WooCommerce, WHMCS, Magento 2 and more; its site footer also lists PrestaShop, OpenCart and Wix. BlockBee offers a hosted checkout and an API, and its docs list official plugins for WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Magento, Odoo and WHMCS. Both support webhooks: CoinGate's sandbox lets you "test webhook callbacks", and BlockBee's webhooks report events such as "payment received".

For testing, CoinGate's accept-payments FAQ says it "provides a full sandbox environment". BlockBee has no sandbox or test mode; its docs suggest a small real order, about $2 in Litecoin, above that coin's minimum.

Should you choose CoinGate or BlockBee?

Based on CoinGate's pricing and accept-payments pages, checked on 7 October 2026:

Choose CoinGate if:

  • you want settlement in euros, pounds or dollars to a bank account;
  • you want Lightning enabled by default for all merchants;
  • you want a sandbox to build against.

Choose BlockBee if:

  • you want each on-chain payment in your own wallet once it confirms;
  • your customers pay in USDT;
  • you want payouts from a wallet BlockBee cannot move without your API key.

Frequently asked questions

Is BlockBee cheaper than CoinGate?

Not at the starting rate: both charge 1% (CoinGate's pricing page, checked on 7 October 2026). BlockBee's rate falls through published volume tiers as your 30-day volume grows; CoinGate's Enterprise plan has custom, volume-based rates. Each forwarded on-chain BlockBee payment also pays a network fee to the blockchain, and both providers charge for payouts. Compare both with your real volume and coins.

Does BlockBee support Bitcoin Lightning?

Yes, through BlockBee's Checkout and Point of Sale (PoS) only. Lightning funds settle once a day at 00:00 UTC, with a minimum settlement of 0.00008 BTC.

Can BlockBee settle in euros?

No. BlockBee pays out in crypto, not fiat. If you need euros, receive payments at an exchange deposit address and convert them on the exchange; for such addresses BlockBee's docs advise leaving the multi_token option off.

Can I switch from CoinGate to BlockBee?

Yes. Install the BlockBee plugin or use the API, add your wallet addresses in the dashboard or the API call, and test a small real order first. Keep your CoinGate account open until its last settlement is paid out.
