BitPay vs BlockBee: Fees, Settlement and Integration Compared
How BitPay and BlockBee compare on fees, settlement, supported coins and integrations, with a worked fee example and a switching checklist.
Short answer
BitPay suits businesses that want customers to pay in crypto but want dollars, euros or another fiat currency in a bank account. BlockBee suits businesses that want to receive crypto in their own wallets, through an API, a hosted checkout or an e-commerce plugin. BlockBee's fees start at 1% and drop to 0.25% with volume.
Disclosure: BlockBee publishes this comparison. We checked BitPay's public pages on 30 September 2026. Prices and features change, so confirm current terms with each provider before you choose.
Fees
BitPay's pricing page lists these rates, based on monthly transaction volume:
| Monthly volume | BitPay fee per transaction |
|---|---|
| Below $500,000 | 2% + $0.25 |
| $500,000 to $999,999 | 1.5% + $0.25 |
| $1,000,000 or more | 1% + $0.25 |
BitPay says higher fees apply to high-risk industries.
BlockBee charges 1% per transaction, falling to 0.25% as your volume over the previous 30 days grows. The rate also depends on your industry's risk tier. There are no setup or monthly fees. Each coin has a minimum fee, and BlockBee charges whichever is higher: the percentage fee or that minimum. See the fees page for the calculator.
Worked example. A store takes 400 orders of $50 in a month, $20,000 in total.
- BitPay: 400 × ($1.00 + 0.25) = **500**
- BlockBee at the 1% rate: 400 × 0.50 = **200**, plus network fees
With BlockBee you also pay the blockchain network fee to forward each payment to your wallet. It varies by network and by how busy the network is; the fees page has an estimator.
Settlement: what you receive
This is the main difference between the two.
BitPay focuses on fiat. Its business page says merchants can be settled to a bank account in US dollars, euros, pounds and other currencies, or in crypto, or in a mix of both.
BlockBee settles in crypto. When a payment confirms, BlockBee forwards it, minus its fee, to the wallet address you set. There is no balance to withdraw and no payout schedule. You can also:
- split each payment across up to 20 addresses, for example to pay a partner automatically;
- forward payments to your deposit address at an exchange, where you can convert them to fiat yourself;
- convert incoming coins automatically with SwapBee rules, for example into a stablecoin where that pair is available. Conversion is best effort: if no quote is available, the payment arrives in the original coin.
BlockBee does not process card payments and does not offer card-to-crypto or an on-ramp.

Supported coins
Both advertise more than 100 cryptocurrencies. The count matters less than whether each provider supports the exact coin and network your customers use. USDT on Tron and USDT on Ethereum, for example, are different routes with different fees.
BlockBee supports 100+ cryptocurrencies and tokens, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Litecoin, TON and USDT and USDC on several networks. Each coin has a minimum transaction amount, listed on the same page. Payments below the minimum are ignored and the funds are lost, so show the minimum at checkout.
Switching from BitPay
Move in stages rather than replacing a working checkout in one step:
- List the coins, networks and settlement currency you need.
- Confirm your fee tier and eligibility with the new provider.
- Run one complete order, from payment to fulfilment. BlockBee has no sandbox or testnet, so test with a small real payment above the minimum, for example about $2 of Litecoin.
- Check how your system handles underpayments, late payments and repeated webhooks.
- Set up refunds and reconciliation before you take customer payments.
- Keep the old account open until outstanding invoices are paid.
Frequently asked questions
Is BlockBee cheaper than BitPay?
On published rates, yes: BlockBee starts at 1% and BitPay at 2% + $0.25 below $500,000 a month. With BlockBee you also pay network fees to forward each payment, so compare the total for your own order sizes, coins and volume.
Can BlockBee pay me in euros or dollars?
BlockBee pays you in crypto. To end up with fiat, forward payments to your account at an exchange and convert them there.
Does BlockBee accept card payments?
No. BlockBee is crypto-only. It does not process cards or offer card-to-crypto.
Can BlockBee replace BitPay on WooCommerce?
Both have WooCommerce plugins. Test the BlockBee plugin with a real order on your own store, including your checkout customisations, before you switch.
Which is the best BitPay alternative?
No single provider suits every business. If fiat in a bank account matters most, BitPay may fit better. If you want crypto in your own wallet, lower published fees and an API, compare BlockBee. We also compare BlockBee and NOWPayments and list Coinbase Commerce alternatives.
